Shalfleet is one of the Isle of Wight’s ancient civil parishes, renowned for its ancient woodlands, early 20th-century brick making, wonderful views over the Solent and let’s not forget the amazing red squirrels.

It’s also one of the island’s distinctive ‘long parishes’, stretching from Elm Lane in the east to Bouldnor in the west.

Its northern and southern boundaries are marked by the Solent shore and Shalcombe Down, respectively.

Within its parish boundaries lie the villages of Shalfleet, Bouldnor, Cranmore, Hamstead, Newbridge, Ningwood and Wellow.
